AMERICAN MARTIAL ARTS INSTITUTE TELEVISION

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENTS (PSAs)

The American Martial Arts Institute is a traditional martial arts school, and as such, it upholds the historic philosophy that martial artists have a responsibility to their school and their community. Part of this responsibility is to make a positive difference in the world, to be a leader. One of the ways that this school has chosen to fulfill this obligation is by sharing knowledge regarding health, awareness, and personal safety. For over 25 years, Grandmaster Crandall has promoted his Secure Living program and concept. In the early 1970s he wrote numerous articles for newspapers as part of this campaign. In the early 1980s he appeared in public service announcements and in a regularly occuring segment on the nightly news called Secure Living.

The segments covered safety topics for men, women, and children of all ages. In the early 1990s he wrote the book "The Best Handbook to Secure Living," which was later revised and expanded to become the book "Be Safe Physically and Mentally with the Crandall System," a program for parents, community leaders and educators to bring the concept of Secure Living to their children and community members. In the 2000s he host the television program Safety and Awareness Today. Grandmaster Crandall has served as the Central New York spokesman for children's safety for the McDonalds corporation and appeared in public service announcements with Ronald McDonald reminding children how to "Be Safe!" Throughout this entire time he taught seminars across the country and traveled to over 22 countries internationally promoting safety and awareness for everyone. In 2008 he cofounded the organization Secure Living Online with his long time student, Master Eric Stalloch to bring instructional videos to anyone with an Internet connection, and the organization was featured on MSNBCs Today Show.Com and was the first to present at the AERs state conference for the Blind and Visually Impaired, as well as teaching the students at Hunter College. These are only a few of the ways that the American Martial Arts Institute, Secure Living Online, Grandmaster Crandall, and Master Stalloch have endeavored to bring Secure Living into the community.

Now, we are excited to announce that Secure Living enters a new phase of growth: the Secure Living PSA campaign. Through Secure Living Online, Grandmaster Crandall and Master Stalloch has prepared a catalog of over 100 scripts and topics for development. These public service announcements are written, organized, produced, and edited by Secure Living Online. They will all be posted to Secure Living Online.Com which is currently undergoing a complete site redesign and which will be released on May 1st, 2013. The site will feature all PSAs, available to be viewed online. The PSAs also air throughout Central New York, sponsored paid for by Secure Living Online, the American Martial Arts Institute, and local community agencies. In addition, Time Warner Cable has donated some air time as well. Any community organizations or businesses interested in sponsoring air time to promote health, awareness, and personal safety may contact Master Stalloch at 315-768-1859 for more information.

Target groups featured include children (6-12), teenagers (13-17), adults (18-35), adults (36-55), active seniors, and people with disabilities of all types (such as those with mobility challenges, stroke survivors, oxygen users, blind or visually impaired, hearing loss or deafness, and more). Topics can focus on safety issues in daily life, health, or personal safety responses.

Check Secure Living Online in the coming months for more information and a growing catalog of PSAs that can make a difference in your well-being.
