KARATE AEROBICS: January
20, 1999
The
fun has begun with our first successful class held on January 20,
1999. The instructor was Mrs. Cheryl Freleigh and everyone there went
home excited and exhausted. The
class is founded on many of the principles and techniques of Tae Bo
by the well known aerobics instructor Billy Blanks. The American Martial
Arts Institute's Karate Aerobics class combines traditional martial
arts moves from the American Eagle Style with the same upbeat, high
intensity, and cardiovascular workout as traditional aerobics. The
program enhances weight loss, increases mental and physical stamina,
improves physical fitness, and balance. Karate Aerobics is NOT a traditional
or accurate martial arts style. For
class times and additional information call the Main School loction
at 315-768-1859.

"The Crandall System"
level two was put into use this month by a group of school districts.
Level two is called"Just Get Away!!!Escape Techniques for Teenage
Girls" This particular package,
included a teachers' guide, instructional videotape and a teaching
seminar. This was all made possible by the efforts of the American
Martial Arts Institute, Newschannel 2 WKTV/WBU and their concerned
community sponsors Metzler Printing Co., Inc. St. Elizabeth Medical
Group and the Law Offices of Brindisi, Murad and Brindisi Pearlman.
The press events colored
in green over the next few months are schools that recieved this package.
Everyone is concerned about the safety of our teenagers in general.
But we all realize that teenage girls are more a target regarding
assaults, rapes and dating conflicts and that special consideration
regarding their safety needs to be taken. The defense against these
concerns is KNOWLEDGE. We need to teach the teenage girls you are
concerned about knowledge that will make them safe.
Some of the techniques
covered in this program include breakaways from a single straight-across
wrist grab, a single cross-wrist grab, a throat grab, coat grab, and
choke hold from behind, as well as some clear responses to unwanted
aggressive dating situations.
As our school continues
to grow, there is more happening every month.
