Those who test for fourth degree must have a minimum time requirement of two years at the rank of third degree. This allows the individual, whether a student or instructor, the necessary time for personal growth and development that is essential to American Eagle Style’s traditional philosophy.
This testing involves a four-page written exam the day of the testing, and each individual must demonstrate proficiency at performing the six required forms to test for fourth degree: Long Hand, Continuity Two, Pyongwon, Heian 3 and Aoyanagi (both male and female versions) as well as demonstrate forms for three different weapons of American Eagle Style. Also included is sparring and self-defense (which involves techniques from a seated position).
On December 28, 2007, one individual tested for fourth degree black belt. The judging panel was made up of five black belt instructors, and was led by Grandmaster Crandall. The testing began at six o’clock and was concluded when all requirements for the rank were demonstrated and completed.
Having successfully competed the test, the following individual was promoted by Grandmaster Crandall:
Fourth Degree Black Belt Awarded to:
Mr. Joseph Wereszynski
This individual received his belt tip on the night of the testing, but he will receive his certificate of rank at a formal recognition on April 5th 2008 at the Ceremonial Black Belt Breakfast. Congratulations to this dedicated student of American Eagle Style.
