Grandmaster Crandall Visits a Good Friend in the Martial Arts, Grandmaster Raymond P. Arndt, in Florida

Grandmaster Arndt, founder and head of the American Kang-Duk-Won Association is fighting back from a serious bout with cancer, but the martial arts is still a mental and physical aspect of his life.  Grandmaster Crandall visited his good friend to practice katas and discuss traditional techniques.  They spent hours of enjoyable research logging accurate movements and information on old forms such as Bassai Dai, Bassai Sho, Hwa-Rang Do, T'ong-Il, and many others.  Grandmaster Crandall and Grandmaster Arndt also practiced katas of Grandmaster Arndt's own design, such as Simplicity, Open Hand and Arena, which Grandmaster Crandall will be documenting on DVD and releasing for both of their respective schools' higher ranking black belts.

Grandmaster Arndt's dinning room became a research center for martial arts studies.  Here the two Grandmasters pool their knowledge, books and notes to ensure the accuracy of the traditional katas is maintained.

Clarification of the difference between Tiger Jaw and Tiger Mouth, as well as the intended method of execution for both techniques was examined.

Other techniques, such as the waving technique, open hand spearing, and palm strikes to the ribcage were major parts of katas that were covered.

Sunny, beautiful weather allowed outside use of space to execute forms in their complete pattern.

Grandmaster Crandall found it a true pleasure to spend time with his good friend, Grandmaster Arndt, who oversees his school in Florida with the same traditional and respectful code that they both live by.
