You Never Know Who's Life You've Influenced

The American Martial Arts Institute has over 45 certified black belt instructors who volunteer their time to teach and assist in our school. These instructors believe that they are giving back to the school the enthusiasm and individual concern that each of them received as students. In effect, they believe they are completing the circle of knowledge.

The heading of this page is a statement written on the dedication page of a new book that has been released titled “Tai Chi by the Cube: The Art of Gabriel Chin.” This statement was written by the author of the book, John T. McCabe, for one of our school’s instructors. This instructor has set an example that others could follow and be inspired by since he started as a whitebelt. His name is Mr. Arturo Santiago, and he teaches in our Albany location. John McCabe trained in our school with Arturo Santiago approximately 11 years ago, and then due to business moved to Michigan. He stayed involved in the martial arts, contributed immensly to his school there, and with the cooperation of his instructor, released his new martial arts book. During that time, John McCabe realized that his persistence in the martial arts and his early love of the martial arts was due greatly to Arturo Santiago. As a result he dedicated his book to him. An autographed copy of this book was presented to Mr. Santiago by Grand Master Crandall on behalf of Mr. John McCabe on Wednesday, January 14th at the Albany location.

The dedication in the book reads as follows:

“This book took a great deal of effort to complete, as most gratifying goals typically do. And so it is with the thought of that effort that I dedicate this book to Arturo Santiago of Saratoga Springs, N.Y. Of all the people I know, to me he represents the ultimate in perseverance and determination, a person capable of sustained effort to achieve what he regards as his gratifying goals.”

Grand Master Crandall was quoted as saying, “It’s instructors like Mr. Santaigo that bring home the true dedication and enthusiasm of the martial arts.” Grand Master Crandall and the staff of the American Martial Arts Institute are truly proud of Mr. Santaigo, and are pleased he was recognized in this book.
