The Utica Main Location Gets Bigger
June 17, 2000

Saturday June 17, the yearly cleaning and maintenance of the main location in Utica was done. This included painting, landscaping and some expansion. It was a very busy day which was to begin at 9:00 a.m., although some enthusiastic students and instructors arrived closer to 8:00 a.m. Instructors from all three locations were invited to help, although no classes were cancelled, not even at Utica during this clean-up day. Also invited to help were brown belts over 18 years of age and junior rank black belts and the schools demo team members. This was an oportunity for those who had the time on Saturday morning without other commitments to share in making their school look great for all to see.

The first major task was the removal of a wall which would increase the size of the training area by a third.

The wall was being prepared for removal.

The wall was cleared of any electrical lines or major nails. The black and brown belts involved decided a center kick would be the most effective tool and with that the wall came down in one large piece. Once the wall was down, clean up was immediate and painting began.

While the wall was coming down, other groups were working on different areas. Here two junior rank black belts (left)Susanne Turner and (right) Amanda Fiore put a new coat of paint on the room's main logo.

In another part of the training room the pictures were down and a new coat of paint was being applied.

Out back the landscaping and a another new sign were being put up.

Out front weeds were being removed and painting was being done.

A special thanks from all of the students and parents of our school goes out to the people who helped that day.
