A Training and Fun Day for the Junior Rank Demonstration Team
July 21, 1999

Plus A Demonstration

On Wednesday, July 21, we had our first training day just for junior rank demonstration team members. The team members that were able to come arrived at 12:00 noon at the Yorkville training hall. The day started with preparation for what would be done at the Whitestown Park Demonstration at 1:00 p.m. This demonstration was a lot of fun, so much so that it lasted one-hour and 20 minutes.

Grand Master Crandall explains the martial arts and the students begin demonstrating the basics and self-defense as the crowd looks on

After this performance, the team went back to the training hall for discussion on breaking and what conditions should exist for a break to work. This included how to pick a board and to set up a multiple break. After this, the team and Grand Master Crandall talked about our school, such as its logo and colors and what words may be on the scroll in the future. The team members had some suggestions about making a couple of the words more current. Some of the good suggestions regarding new words that might be used instead of Spirit and Virtue were enthusiasm, integrity and ethics.

Then with five large pizzas and all the soft drink necessary everyone sat down to watch a movie about traditional Japanese Budo. This movie was fun and yet very educational.

When the movie was over the team practiced the take downs from our school video tape "Learn Take Downs Plus Counters Against A Knife and Gun".
